THE school speed zone on Ridgewood Boulevard will no longer apply following the closure of a specialist school last year.

An Education Department spokeswoman said the West Coast Language Development Centre’s Ridgewood campus closed at the end of 2016.

“The students were relocated to two other school sites,” she said.

“The Department leased the Ridgewood land from a number of private individuals.

“The Department has notified Main Roads of the school closure – formal approval has been given by Main Roads to remove the signs.”

Main Roads confirmed the electronic 40km/h signs would be removed on April 10 and installed at another school, yet to be identified.

The West Coast Language Development Centre still operates at Padbury Primary School, providing specialist early direct intervention for about 280 children.

Main Roads WA plans to remove the Ridgewood Boulevard school zone signs today.
