Roadwork completion hampered by setbacks

The City of Wanneroo started building two left-turn bypass lanes in June and at the time expected it would be finished in August.

But infrastructure director Dennis Blair said told the Times this week that signs had been updated to reflect an October completion date. ‘The construction progress on this project has been delayed by longer than the expected time to undertake excavations in hard rock to upgrade stormwater drainage and relocation of a 150mm diameter gas main,’ he said.

Mr Blair said wet weather during August, design modifications associated with a 700mm diameter water main and the Western Power program for the lowering of an underground high voltage power line also led to delays.
