A DOZEN hardware workers and eight volunteers teamed up to give the Salvation Army Merriwa a fresh lick of paint recently.

Merriwa Corps Officer Nikki Novell said staff from Bunnings stores in Clarkson, Neerabup and Joondalup helped the Salvos paint half the interior of the Jenolan Way building and part of the exterior on April 8.

“Bunnings approached The Salvation Army Merriwa asking if we would like a community painting project to happen at our church,” she said.

“Of course we said ‘yes’ – our hall definitely needed some attention.

“The painting has helped to freshen up the place bringing a much more welcoming environment for our people.”

Major Novell said the church launched its ‘Doorways’ service on April 22 to increase support for disadvantaged and vulnerable people in the local community.
