AN Alkimos family celebrated the life and memory of their 12-year-old son today.

Samuel Aukuso Fuaivaa died in hospital on July 8, the day after he sustained injuries cycling in Butler where his bike and a truck collided on Connolly Drive.

The Samoan family held a three-hour service, attended by about 150 people, at Dreamlife Church in Wangara before the burial service at Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park on July 20.

“We are here to celebrate the life of Samuel,” his mother Tupu said.

“He is the baby of my family.

“He is really an obedient child; he can never say anything or answer back.”

Celebrating his life through song, dance, Bible readings and prayer, his siblings described Sam as “Mr Smiley” and a humble boy with a big heart.

Several speakers shared memories of Sam’s talent as the drummer in their church band.

Sam was born on January 21, 2004 in New Zealand, the youngest of Pela and Tupu’s 10 children.
