A HALLOWEEN display in Mindarie this weekend will raise funds for charity beyondblue.
Mothers Jody Hockey and Sarah Hills are teaming up for another year to decorate a Birkenhead Ridge house for Halloween.
Mrs Hockey said they would be asking trick or treaters to give back by donating to the charity.
“It is in tribute of two beautiful friends we have lost this year from suicide who normally celebrate Halloween with us,” she said.
“Plenty of people go out of their way to visit my home on Halloween and we are only getting bigger and better every year.”
The pair said they would ask anyone who took photos to donate gold coins.
“Because the numbers are getting bigger, we thought why not support a cause,” Mrs Hills said.
“We are hoping this year we get a lot of people who are prepared to donate and just enjoy the display.”
The Carramar resident said about 120 people came past the house last year and there was always a great atmosphere.
Mrs Hockey said their October 31 tradition started as a bit of fun for their children and because she had never taken part in Halloween as a child. She puts balloons in neighbours’ letterboxes, asking them to blow them up and hang them outside if they wanted children to come knocking on Saturday evening.
The mothers said the house would be decorated elaborately for anyone who wanted to pass by, helped by businesses such as Party Plus, which donated balloons, and Jaycar Electronics, which will provide a smoke machine.
They asked anyone who was driving past on Saturday evening to be careful of children walking in the area.
