School prepared in case of emergency

Butler College received a defibrillator and oxygen units from developer Satterley Property Group, which it will keep in its hydrotherapy pool area.

‘It will play a critical part in our response to any emergencies that may happen around the campus,’ associate principal Barry Rose said.

‘It gives us reassurance that we can respond to any emergency, because we are running programs like scuba diving and we have some students who have special needs.’

Science teacher and scuba instructor Mark Lehmann said the equipment could be used for asthma attacks and anaphylactic shock where oxygen could be crucial.

All staff received training to use the equipment.
