Scott walking on a dream

Lucy JarvisNorth Coast Times

Scott, who lives in Alkimos during school terms, has done annual walks from his family farm to Southern Cross since 2010 to raise funds for Telethon, increasing from 25km then to 42km marathons the past two years.

Last month he won $25,000 in the HTC competition that aimed to inspire Australians to pursue their dreams and life goals.

“When I heard I had won I was completely shocked,” Scott said.

“It made me speechless and that never happens because I’m a chatterbox. I just couldn’t believe it.

“I felt so happy and excited when I realised it meant I will reach my One Day I Will goal of raising $100,000 for Telethon by the time I’m 10.

“It means I will help a lot of sick kids and babies. That means everything to me.”

HTC Australia and New Zealand country manager Ben Hodgson said Scott embodied what the One Day I Will’ campaign set out to achieve, uncovering stories of everyday people doing extraordinary things.

“It is particularly touching to see how many people just want to make a difference in the lives of others and create a better world,” he said.

Scott also received a HTC One M9 handset. People can pledge One Day I Will resolutions at htconeday.com until January 30.
