Sculpture salutes Anzac

Lucy JarvisNorth Coast Times

Tony and Ben Jones created the sculpture for Trinity at Alkimos developer LWP to put in a park in its Atelier village stage.

The life-sized sculpture of WA artist and soldier Ellis Silas will pay homage to Anzacs in the art-themed area.

"Atelier village is being developed as an arts village, so Ellis Silas" role as a war artist makes him a fitting Anzac tribute," LWP senior project manager Alf Lay said.

The estate has more than a dozen sculpture and public art pieces already scattered through the development, with more planned.

The Jones father-and-son team are creating another artwork that interprets one of Silas's paintings and will be placed in the park on Trethowan Promenade later this year.

There will be a free family fun day and markets with more than 80 art and produce stalls at the estate this Sunday, May 3 from 10am to 2pm to unveil the sculpture and park.
