Merriwa home search brings reptilian results

Lucy JarvisNorth Coast Times

Clarkson Acting Senior Sergeant Darren Lumb said officers searched two Merriwa homes on October 7 after receiving information about a stolen motorbike at one.

“We did two warrants – the first was on Dunmore Circuit,” he said.

“Our inquiries led us to another house (on) Namoi Turn, Merriwa where we seized two motorbikes, four sets of (number) plates and an angry snake.”

Sgt Lumb said police found an allegedly stolen Yamaha R6 motorbike, more than 170g of cannabis and smoking implements at the first house.

They charged a man (46) at that house with two counts of possessing a prohibited drug, plus one each of cultivating cannabis, possessing drug paraphernalia and receiving stolen property.

He is due to appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Sgt Lumb said investigations were continuing in relation to property found at the second house.
