Search continues for missing angler off Mindarie

WATER Police are continuing a search off Mindarie this morning after a 38-year-old angler failed to return to shore last night.

Police Media spokesman Sam Dinnison said the man was due back about 8.30pm having gone fishing in a 6.4m boat.

Authorities were alerted about 9.30pm that he had not returned.

The man’s vehicle and boat trailer were found at Mindarie Marina.

Emergency teams launched a search operation involving a police helicopter, Water Police, Whitfords Volunteer Sea Rescue Group and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority’s Dornier search plane.

Mr Dinnison said the search was continuing today with additional vessels from Fremantle Sea Rescue and Two Rocks Volunteer Sea Rescue Group joining the search.

The air search will also continue.
