THE second stage of the new Butler Central shopping centre worth more than $70 million will open on Thursday, attracting hundreds of job opportunities to the area.

Construction of the retail space, spanning more than 10,000sq m, began in January 2017 and the Woolworths Supermarket opened in December.

On completion, Butler Central will include retailers including Best & Less, The Reject Shop, Priceline, Pricesavers, and several restaurants and eateries.

The shopping centre on the corner of Butler Boulevard and Exmouth Drive, across from the Butler train station, will have more than 500 car bays including disabled and parent parking.

The project has generated employment for more than 300 people and it is anticipated the Woolworths Supermarket and specialty stores will employ more staff.

Woolworths senior development manager Wes Dose said the centre would provide greater variety as a convenient shopping destination for the community.

Grand opening celebrations will start on Thursday, March 15 and continue over the following weeks.

Celebrations will include children’s entertainment with appearances from Ben & Holly plus Marvel characters Iron Man and Captain America, fun and games with the Street team from Hit FM plus giveaways and grand opening specials from Woolworths Supermarket and the specialty stores.
