SEVERAL million tonnes of material will be shifted during the Mitchell Freeway extension project.
Earthworks are continuing in Clarkson and Kinross, with about 3.5 million tonnes of sand to be moved by the project’s completion.
“It is standard practice on Main Roads projects to use as much as material as possible for the project and, in this case, take the remaining third of the sand to various locations, including nearby land developments,” project director Chris Raykos said.
Following consultation with the Construction Reference Group to identify native trees, vegetation removal has started in Neerabup along Neerabup and Wanneroo roads, as well as in Currambine from the train station to Burns Beach Road.
Fencing has been installed along the proposed freeway route, from Currambine to Clarkson.
