Shire of Narrogin CEO Aaron Cook to take reins at Shire of Gingin

SHIRE of Narrogin chief executive Aaron Cook will take up the top job at the Shire of Gingin in June.

The Gingin council held a special meeting on Tuesday to appoint Mr Cook as replacement for Jeremy Edwards, who is moving to the Shire of East Pilbara this month.

A Shire statement said Mr Cook had more than 25 years of country and metropolitan local government experience, was currently chief executive at the Shire of Narrogin and prior to that was the Shire of Gnowangerup’s chief executive.

Gingin President Sam Collard said the number and quality of candidates was “extremely high”.

“Aaron really stood out with his extensive country local government management experience, and strong negotiating and people skills,” Cr Collard said.

“We believe he is the best person to take the Shire to the next level.

“Council unanimously supported his appointment and we look forward to welcoming Aaron and his family into our community.”
