THE speed limit on Wanneroo Road in Neerabup has been reduced while Main Roads completes roadworks.
The 70km/h zone was recently extended south of Menchetti and Hall roads, and Main Roads spokesman Dean Roberts said the speed reduction from 90km/h was temporary.
“The reduction was implemented in September and will be extended further south in October to facilitate construction works and the widening of Wanneroo Road,” he said.
“Wanneroo Road will be widened to a dual carriageway from the new Flynn Drive intersection to just north of Hall Road.
“All required vegetation has been removed along the new Wanneroo Road alignment and earthworks are expected to commence shortly.
“There will be no permanent closures of Wanneroo Road during construction and advance notification will be provided to road users should temporary closures or diversions be required.”
Two Rocks Yanchep Residents Association members discussed the recent relocation of 70km/h signs further south at their September 28 meeting.
Yanchep Police Sergeant Jason Macander said people should adhere to the new speed limit.
“It’s not going to be long before there’s a multinova near there,” he said.
More reductions to 60km/h on Wanneroo Road and Hester Avenue came into effect last week.
