Spirits to soar at Eglinton Kite Festival

Lucy JarvisNorth Coast Times

HUNDREDS of kites are expected to fly over an Eglinton park during a free community event this Sunday.

Amberton estate developer Stockland will host the Kite Festival on March 18, with live music and lolly drops adding to the atmosphere.

The free event will be at the sports oval on Cinnabar Drive from 3pm to 5pm and include kite flying and kite surfing workshops, coffees, iced-chocolate and slushies as well as a lolly drop from the sky.

WA residential development regional manager Damian Long said the event was being held as part of the Sunset Club series of events, which take place once a month on a Sunday.

“We launched these fantastic events in September and they have since included everything from Oktoberfest celebrations to a Doggy Spring Carnival,” he said.

“The Sunset Club series has been wholeheartedly embraced by the entire community.

“The Kite Festival is particularly special as we are celebrating our charity partner Redkite who provide essential support to children and young people with cancer.”

The Alkimos Pirates Lacrosse Club will do a sausage sizzle for gold coin donations and the Shore Waters Sports organisation will be on hand to show older children how to kite surf.
