A CONCEPT plan for Yanchep’s skate park is out for public comment following council endorsement.
The proposed skate park will be built near the south western corner of Splendid Park, near the proposed Marmion Avenue extension.
Wanneroo Council unanimously approved the draft plan for consultation on Tuesday and the City has invited submissions until June 7.
It will hold an onsite consultation session at the playing fields on Splendid Avenue from 5.30pm on Thursday, May 23.
The City expects to build the $700,000 skate park in 2019-20 and the State Government has provided $450,000 for the project.
“The concept design seeks to create an active youth recreation precinct that combines the natural features of the park and surrounds with the interests of young people,” a council report said.
“The concept plan includes a number of skate obstacles and features that are multi-functional.
“The facility also provides a mixture of transition-style obstacles; mini-ramp or mini bowl, smaller spines, box jumps and quarter pipes with some larger extension or obstacles for progression.
“There are a number of street-style obstacles including a mellow fun box with ledges and rails, a flat bar and stairs.”
Other features include seating, shade, bins and a drink fountain.
