Sports facilities back on the agenda

Lucy JarvisNorth Coast Times

The March 31 agenda includes an update on the once-proposed redevelopment of Charnwood Park for a senior sports oval. The park is beside the meeting venue, the Phil Renkin Recreation Centre, where a special meeting took place in April 2013 to revoke a February 2013 decision by councillors to shift plans for sporting facilities from Yanchep to Two Rocks.

This month's council report outlines public consultation for the Charnwood proposal, which would have seen one oval created there instead of the two planned for the Yanchep playing fields.

The report said generally the community did not support the upgrades at Two Rocks.

In early March, the City indicated in its "Yanchep Infrastructure" newsletter that roadworks would soon start for the ovals, which would be ready for use by mid-2017.

The March 31 meeting will start at 7pm at the centre on Lisford Avenue. See the agenda at www.wanneroo.wa.gov.au.
