THE Christmas spirit shone at a Butler school last term, as Irene McCormack Catholic College filled hampers with festive treats.

Christian service co-ordinator Cherie Milne said the school collected donations for the St Vincent de Paul Society.

“In just over one week, the college community has contributed enormous amounts of Christmas puddings, candy canes, bonbons, fruit mince pies and all things festive for our annual Christmas appeal,” she said.

“Together they filled 45 hampers full of goodies that will be distributed to local families who are experiencing difficulties.

“As well as the food and gifts, the college community donated $450 worth of Woolworths and Big W vouchers to enable families to shop themselves.

“Some of the Year 11 students raised a large portion of this money when collecting sponsors for the Winter Sleep Out which was held at the college in September.”
