Teachers at Butler College have been teaching Year 8 students the underwater activity through the junior open water course in the school’s hydrotherapy pool.
Associate principal Barry Rose said instructors Mark Lehmann and John Sherriffs bring more than 10 years training experience to the school, which opened this year, and were teaching students in the first intake.
‘They will learn to dive under strict supervision and guidelines and earn themselves the first of a number of steps in what could be a lifetime of learning to enjoy the underwater realm,’ he said.
