The school, with pools at Merriwa and Ocean Reef, won the AUSTSWIM-recognised swim centre award for aquatic education and water safety.

Lauren Clark and Daria Kearon won teacher of infant and pre-school aquatics and teacher of adults’ awards respectively, while Julie McDonald received a swimming and water safety teaching award nomination.

The wins, announced at the state AUSTSWIM industry conference in Bedford, were great news for owner Zoran Naumovski and his 60 staff.

‘There were five categories and we won three of a possible five and were nominated for a fourth,’ school operational area manager Mel Warren said.

In March, she joined water safety ambassador Laurie Lawrence on a regional tour to promote multicultural swimming and drowning prevention.
