A NORTHERN suburbs photography group is helping novices to professionals develop their skills.

The Aperture Group, known as TAG, is a group of photographers whose skills range from novice to professional.

“We encourage our members to help one another and participate in our club throughout the year,” Lynn Gail said.

“Our aim is to assist members to develop their skills in a friendly and immersive environment.

“The Aperture Group meet on the first and third Tuesdays of each month from 7.15pm.

The Aperture Group (TAG) holds monthly competitions.

“The group also arrange photographic field trips during the year with a focus to teach and demonstrate varied aspects in the art of photography.

“The first Tuesday of each month is competition night, where members’ entries are critiqued by a visiting judge.

“The third Tuesday of each month is a workshop evening – these nights cover all things photographic and often include a well-known guest speaker or hands-on workshop.”

The Aperture Group meets at the Jenolan Way Community Centre in Merriwa.

There is a door fee of $4, payable on each visit and visitors are welcome to come along for two free sessions.

Annual membership is $65 per person with discounts available for families and concession or senior’s card holders.
