The Aperture Photography Group president Michelle Shoosmith said the group was an off-shoot of the Northern Exposure Photographer’s Group in Edgewater.

The Quinns Rocks resident said the group already had 15 members and had elected a committee, but hoped more people would join.

‘It ranges from people who take photos as a hobby through to professionals and multi-award winners,’ she said.

Mrs Shoosmith said it was open to people who had just picked up a camera as well as those with more experience, but ideally members should own a digital SLR camera.

The club will hold formal meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, but will have their first meeting tonight, July 29 at the Jenolan Way Community Centre from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

Mrs Shoosmith said they would hold workshops in specialised areas of photography, such as night, landscape and portrait photography.

The group is linked to the WA Photographic Federation and membership fees will be $40 for the remainder of 2014.
