Lucy JarvisNorth Coast Times

Clarkson Detectives Senior Sergeant Gary Saunders said they charged two boys (aged 16 and 14) on November 27, who already faced serious offence charges in that town and put on a home curfew.

‘They (allegedly) stole a car from Moora and fled the town site (on November 22), arriving to stay with friends in Clarkson,’ Sgt Saunders said.

‘During their short time here before we arrested them, they (allegedly) went on a bit of a crime spree.

‘They were (allegedly) causing a substantial volume of burglary offences, breaking into cars and breaking into homes in Merriwa, Quinns Rocks and Mindarie.’

Further investigations resulted in a search in Clarkson, on a Whiston Crescent home..

Sgt Saunders said they charged both boys with five counts of aggravated burglary, four counts of stealing, two counts of stealing a motor vehicle, and criminal damage by fire.

Detectives also charged the older boy with driving without a licence, and remanded both in custody. Sgt Saunders said investigations were continuing to see if other burglaries in the area were related.

‘From that (Clarkson) address we charged an adult male (31) with two counts of receiving stolen property and two frauds,’ he said.

He said a 28-year-old female from the address was charged with fraud.

The detective said they had remanded the man in custody, but he had been released by the courts, and the woman would be summonsed to appear in court.
