Clarkson Senior Sergeant Mal Jones said Quinns Rocks residents were home working on renovations while their keys, a handbag and a Nissan X-Trail were stolen.

Sgt Jones said someone entered a Kaka Mews house through an unlocked back door between 5pm and 8.30pm on August 27 and stole the car.

‘It was found abandoned but damaged in Westminster at 6pm on August 30 ” it had been parked there for three days,’ he said.

‘Offenders are mobile; they will move from one suburb to another and steal a vehicle to do so.’

In Mindarie, car keys were stolen and a vehicle rummaged through during a burglary at a Longbeach Boulevard home between August 26 and 27.

Sgt Jones said thieves entered the house overnight, rummaged through rooms and took the keys to open a car, from which they may have taken some items. He said the keys were still missing.

Police were also looking for a car reported stolen from Gaudi Way in Clarkson.

Sgt Jones said the owner still had the keys for his black 2014 Subaru V-1, registered 1EMQ 467, which disappeared between 5.30pm on September 1 and 7.30am on September 2.
