Three men charged over boat theft

Staff ReporterNorth Coast Times

Clarkson Detectives Senior Sergeant Gary Saunders said his team recovered the 5.5m custom-built boat, stolen on June 8 and worth $52,000, at a Clipstone Parkway property in Butler the following weekend.

‘The boat had the ID numbers and (trailer registration) plate removed,’ Sgt Saunders said. ‘The boat had been repainted (allegedly) in order to disguise its identity.’

Sgt Saunders said detectives found the number plate from the trailer cut into pieces at the property, as well as a fire extinguisher, maritime radio and anchor lights.
