Police suggest these tips:

– Never leave your handbag or purse in your trolley while shopping.

– Keep minimal amounts of cash in your wallet or purse.

– In cafes and restaurants, don’t hang your bags on the back of chairs. Keep them on your shoulder or lap, or between your feet on the ground.

– Thieves working in pairs may attempt to divert your attention.

– Be wary of using hooks on the back of toilet doors, as thieves reach over and attempt to steal bags.
