Top marks for gauchos

The Yanchep and Districts branch of the Country Women’s Association hosted the event at the Phil Renkin Recreation Centre on June 19.

The group’s international officer Gloria Campbell said it was a successful day despite wet weather keeping some people away, and they enjoyed Kathryn Kyle’s singing as well as stories about Argentina.

Mrs Campbell said there were good dress-up costumes to suit the theme, and CWA members put on a play about the Gauchos, or South American cowboys.

Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts attended, and funds raised will go towards the Royal Flying Doctor Service and a local charity yet to be selected by the committee.
