Toppled water truck draws audience

Staff ReporterNorth Coast Times

Traffic police Acting Sen Sgt Ian Knight said a water-carting truck disrupted traffic for several hours after it fell off another truck, and warned that drivers should not block roads when congestion was already an issue at crash sites.

‘(The truck) caused a fair bit of traffic congestion,’ Sgt Knight said.

‘There were quite a lot of people setting up deck chairs (and) people were being inconsiderate, parking on the roundabout.’

The incident occurred about 9.30am, and Sgt Knight said the load shifted as the truck turned left from Marmion Avenue southbound into Hester Avenue, and three hold-down chains broke.
