Mr Winn raised the money through friends and families support when he did the True Grit Military Inspired Obstacle Challenge on the WA Day long weekend.
He said he was inspired to do something for children with cancer after reading about a boy born with a brain tumour.
‘I’ve just had a son myself ” my little boy is eight months,’ he said.
On June 9, Mr Winn visited a Toys’R’Us store, where he bought four-and-a-half trolleys full of toys worth about $2000 to take to the hospital.
He also spent almost $500 on video games worth $800 at JB HiFi, before delivering all the donations, some of which sick children could take home and others that were added to the hospital’s collection.
‘It puts your life in perspective a lot ” it was an emotional day,’ he said.
Mr Winn said he planned to raise more funds later this year.
