Nicholas Coci won his gun trowel speed test and a bronze medal for blocklaying at the September competition in Perth.

The Celebration Homes apprentice had 15 minutes to build a 350x350mm brick pier, which was assessed on its square, plumb, gauge, appearance and level.

The competition came down to a tie between three apprentices, but Mr Coci won based on the gauge, or height, between each of his bricks.
