Traffic stop leads to drug charges in Eglinton

A TRAFFIC stop led to a Yanchep man being charged with drug and weapon offences yesterday.

About 10.20am, police were conducting patrols on Marmion Avenue in Eglinton when they stopped a Mitsubishi Lancer.

Police say that during a search of the vehicle they found about 18 grams of MDMA and six grams of methylamphetamine.

A 27-year-old man was charged with possessing MDMA with intent to sell or supply as well as possession of a prohibited drug (MDMA and cannabis).

He was also charged with possessing a controlled weapon, ready access to weapons and drugs and failing to comply with a requirement given by an officer.

He is due to appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court today, Wednesday 11 April 2018.

A 20-year-old woman from Butler has been charged with possession of methylamphetamine with intent to sell or supply.

She will appear in court on April 24.
