Trailer appreciated

A TRAILER to help distribute food and clothing has been donated to a Merriwa charity supporting homeless and disadvantages people.

Mindarie Rotary Club president Nigel Owen said they raised about $2500 to donate a trailer, with signwriting, to HAND (Homeless, At Risk, Needy, Disadvantaged).

“Until the provision of the trailer, the volunteers would have to collect and distribute the clothing and food using their private cars,” Mr Owen said.

“HAND was delighted. The provision of the trailer now means that they can provide a mobile service to the homeless and no longer have to create a convoy of vehicles.

“They are also very happy to be able to extend their services to other areas such as Fremantle and Midland.”

He said a certificate of appreciation was presented to the club, with a heartfelt speech by HAND’s Tanya Cairns.

Entry and sellers fees at the fortnightly Mindarie Rotary Club Swap Mart help to raise much-needed funds for local projects.

The next swap mart, held at the Ocean Keys covered car park, will be held on Sunday, August 2, with sellers to attend from 6.45am for $10 per site and buyers at 7.30am for a gold-coin donation.
