Trains early at Butler

Transport Minister Dean Nalder said the station would open in September instead of December after signalling, overhead wiring and technical works were completed.

He said the project to extend the rail from Clarkson to Butler would be $20 million under the budgeted $241 million.

About 2000 passengers were expected to use the station each day.

‘We are working hard to deliver this project ahead of schedule, hopefully in time for the September school holidays,’ he said.

The station includes security cameras linked to the Public Transport Authority’s central monitoring room and digital display boards.

The Government will provide 11 bus services to the station, 900 car bays and a path for passengers to walk or cycle to the station.
