Wanneroo artist Derek Newton tutored 21 stroke survivors and their carers in the gentle art of pencil sketching using shading and tone.
‘This was a break with a difference, a challenge to stroke survivors to produce a work of art under Derek’s wonderful tuition,’ co-ordinator Sally Allen said.
‘Imagine our surprise to find we could all achieve a drawing that resembled the object in front of us.’
Mrs Allen, who cared for her late husband after a stroke, thanked the City of Wanneroo for its grant towards the stay.
