Wanneroo council gives permission for 5.5m subdivision retaining wall in Yanchep

BUILDING Development Group has gained approval for a subdivision retaining wall up to 5.5m in Yanchep.

Wanneroo council approved the wall height exceeding the usual 3m and 4m limits at the May 24 meeting, based on a report outlining “exceptional circumstances” at Lot 499 St Andrews Drive.

“The topography of the site is such that extensive retaining is required,” the report said.

“The site slopes from the north west to south east corner.

“To address this difference in level, the applicant is proposing to construct a terraced retaining wall reaching a maximum height of 5.5m on the boundary.

“The proposed retaining wall will allow a new access road to the subdivided lots.

“There would then be a further retaining wall at the boundary between those lots and the golf course.

A letter from the neighbouring Sun City Country Club said it had no objections to the retaining wall.

The site plans indicate there will be about 30 lots plus group housing lots created through the subdivision of the block.

The block extends from Yanchep Beach Road to near Merion Court.
