After a gruelling 30-month battle with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, the Quinns Rocks nine-year old is happy, well and making up for lost time.

She is a Quinns-Mindarie Surf Life Saving Club nipper and plays netball, belongs to girl guides, loves school at Quinns Rocks primary and drama.

Having reclaimed her life, Freya has sick children in her sights as she helps promote World Wish Day today and a special candle fundraiser.

Candle retailer dusk is selling a limited edition ‘wish maker’ candle so Make-a-Wish Australia can grant wishes to more children with life-threatening illnesses. Since 1985, the organisation has granted more than 7000 wishes.

Mum Sarah said having been unable to go far during Freya’s illness, Easter near Coral Bay and the forthcoming Gold Coast trip meant a lot.

‘After two-and-a-half years of daily chemotherapy, hospital time, multiple operations and hair loss, Freya looks great,’ she said.

‘You wouldn’t believe what she has been through.

‘She’s been off treatment for a year and is very busy.

‘We think the candle fundraiser is absolutely fabulous.’

Wish-maker candles are $6 from dusk stores or go to dusk.com.au
