Working group for park

A WORKING group has been formed to guide the redevelopment of the Quinns Rocks Caravan Park site, which is currently being cleared.

The City of Wanneroo set up the working group in June to include all coastal ward councillors, the mayor and a councillor from each of the other wards.

It is supposed to guide proposals for a modern caravan park that will replace the currently closed facility on Quinns Road in Mindarie.

At Tuesday’s council meeting, the City’s property manager Michael Penson said clearing works had started at the site, with buildings such as the manager’s office and bathroom block already demolished.

Mr Penson said that work did not relate to any construction, and design options would be presented to the council in the future.

“The aim is to create a stylish, up to date park, with serviced sites for caravans, campervans and recreational vehicles for short-stay visitors,” Mayor Tracey Roberts said.

“Consideration will also be given to a small number of park homes available for short term hire. We will hold community information sessions.”

Subject to WA Planning Commission approval, the City plans to seek expressions of interest from experienced and qualified caravan park operators for the upgrade and management of the park.
