Staff WriterNorth Coast Times

CONSTRUCTION has started at the $3 million Picasso Park in Alkimos, which is expected to finish in early 2019.

The 2.5ha architecturally-designed park will be home for the Alkimos Sprout Community Hub and have an amphitheatre, barbecues and three shade structures to give the area a piazza feel.

The playground will have a two-storey undercover play structure and giant birds nest swing, as well as a log balance course, musical play area and in-ground trampoline.

There will also be a running track with distance markets and exercise equipment, yoga areas under mature shade trees, multi-use sports courts, a table tennis table and casual kick-about area with footy goal posts at one end.

Picasso Park will also feature smart benches with WiFi access where people can charge a device.

Lendlease WA communities general manager Anthony Rowbottam said Alkimos Vista’s development partners – Lendlease and LandCorp – were passionate about delivering amenities for residents to use from day one.
