Yanchep Community Men’s Shed chasing more members

YANCHEP Community Men’s Shed is calling out for more members as it sets up in its first base.

The steering committee, led by Malcolm Gow, secured a temporary home at Unit 2, 7 Glenrothes Crescent last month.

Mr Gow, committee members and volunteers have been setting up the space with machinery and materials collected since the group formed last year.

He said they planned to hold the first AGM within the next couple of months, and needed to recruit more members to ensure the shed’s success.

The shed is open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9am to noon.

Members have been collecting pallets and plan to create pallet furniture to sell at local markets as their first fundraising project.

Discussions are continuing to reach the group’s longer-term goal of establishing permanent premises beside the bowling greens at Yanchep Sports and Social Club.
