Yanchep Lagoon: City of Wanneroo favours short-term tenants and food vans

Lucy JarvisNorth Coast Times

FOOD vans and short-term tenants could be set for Yanchep Lagoon after the Wanneroo Council rejected all cafe lease submissions this week.

During a confidential session at their September 13 meeting, councillors agreed to reject the 38 expressions of interest submitted in April.

They also agreed the City would invite applications for short-term tenants of up to six months at the Brazier Road building, and explore having food vans in the area.

The decision flagged investigations into redeveloping or retaining the existing building.

A public report about leasing the site was withdrawn from the July meeting agenda, and this month’s report was filed under confidential cover.

At the September 13 meeting, governance and legal manager Mustafa Yildiz said the latter report was confidential due to a probity advisor’s advice included.

Mr Yildiz said the council could resolve to exclude that and make the rest of the report publicly available following the meeting, which it did during the confidential session.

The report is expected to be included in the minutes, published on the City’s website on Friday evening.
