OWNERS of the former Club Capricorn resort in Yanchep have re-opened the access road to the beachfront ahead of summer.

Capricorn Beach project director Jarrod Rendell said demolition work at the former resort, which closed in mid-2015, had finished.

“With the completion of the demolition works, we have been able to open the private access road and beachfront area to the public,” he said.

“We encourage visitors to respect the local environment by keeping their vehicles on the bituminised access road and parking in the designated carpark.

“A lot of care has been taken throughout the demolition to keep the natural vegetation of the area intact.

“We encourage anyone who is utilising the access road and beach at the Capricorn site to report to authorities any visitors who are not respecting the local environment.

“The developers have taken a pro-active approach to the sustainability of this site and to ensure that we can keep the access road and beach open to the public, visitors need to respect the environment in the area.

“Much of the building materials from the old Club Capricorn resort have been totally recycled by our contractor and we have retained materials to be used for future road works.”

Mr Rendell said the developers were committed to sustainability, and had retained mature trees as natural shade cover when developing the Campground Adventure Park.

The developers expect to announce plans for the re-development of the area in 2017.
