Yanchep police warn boat owners following spike in thefts

YANCHEP Police Sergeant Chris Wride has warned boat owners to be “extra vigilant” following four thefts from vessels parked in driveways.

“We have seen a spike in stealing offences from boats in the Yanchep and Two Rocks area,” Sgt Wride said.

“Offenders appear to be targeting fuel tanks, however some marine radars, navigation equipment and other items have also been stolen.

“Ensure you secure your boat in a locked shed or garage if possible. If not, then remove any loose items from the boat.”

Sgt Wride said people should also avoid leaving valuables in cars or trailers parked on driveways, and ensure their vehicles are locked.
