A COMMUNITY group that has operated in Yanchep and Two Rocks for nearly 40 years needs volunteers to ensure it continues to run.
The Yanchep Two Rocks Community Recreation Association is seeking six to 12 people to be part of its committee so it can keep delivering community events.
Yanchep resident Julie Otremba is stepping down as secretary after more than 20 years, but is keen for other people to get on board.
She said the group holds popular annual events including Carols in the Park, an Australia Day breakfast and the Sunset Markets.
“It’s really an iconic association,” she said.
“The focus of the group is the community; the association caters for everyone in the community.”
Mrs Otremba said the six existing members were “all busy people”, but they were seeking volunteers who could simply give some time to help with events.
She was concerned that if they did not have enough volunteers at the annual general meeting on January 2 then the club could potentially cease.
“It’s always had its quiet times, but with the influx of people in the area we were hoping for more members and it didn’t happen,” she said.
The association will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year and Mrs Otremba was hopeful of being able to run a community event marking the milestone.
Everyone is welcome to the meeting, which will be held at 7.30pm on January 2 at the Phil Renkin Recreation Centre in Two Rocks.
Nominations for the roles of president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer will be open, along with 12 committee member positions.
