PAINTING murals on Yanchep’s water tanks could cost $300,000 to $350,000, residents were told recently.

At Two Rocks Yanchep Residents Association’s August 27 meeting, secretary Lorraine Jackson said she and Two Rocks Yanchep Culture and Arts Network had discussed applying to the Water Corporation’s Splash of Colour initiative.

“The cost is going to be quite exorbitant – $300,000 to $350,000,” she said.

“I think it’s an awesome thing for the entry to the town (but) it may take a little bit of time.”

Asked if it would be cheaper to plant trees, Ms Jackson said the project would need to go out for public consultation.

The utility originally dismissed the residents’ group idea of painting the tanks east of Marmion Avenue in 2015, but has since changed its approach and invited communities to nominate assets that could be painted.
