YOUNG musicians looking to gain performing experience and build their public profile can perform at Clarkson’s main shopping centre in coming months.

Ocean Keys Shopping Centre kicks off its community showcase tomorrow, which will see musicians from the northern suburbs perform to a live audience every Thursday evening until the end of May.

Butler teenager Isobel Green (14) is looking forward to performing on the showcase stage.

The John Curtin College of the Arts musical theatre student sings, plays guitar and is teaching herself the ukulele.

“I absolutely love music, singing is my whole life,” Isobel said.

“I’ve performed in front of audiences before but never as a solo in a shopping centre setting.

“I’m really excited to perform a range of musical theatre and jazz to alternative rock and indie pop.”

While plenty of time is spent on music at school, she also spends weekends busking at Mindarie Marina and Hillarys Boat Harbour with her older brother Miles, who plays guitar while she sings.

Isobel comes from a musical family – her mother Hayley runs local dance school Sing Dance Act WA, father Paul is a bass-player in INXS cover band Black Vinyl, older brother Miles is a guitarist in band Just Pacific and younger brother Haydn is already singing at three years old.

“Our home has never been a quiet one,” she said.

“Mum would be choreographing dances in the living room while dad played bass on the couch, my brother would be upstairs blaring out guitar solos and my baby brother singing with his toys.

“I can’t remember a time when all of us weren’t singing, dancing or playing instruments.”

Isobel won the Wanneroo Show Idol and Act Belong Commit Breakthrough Music Competition in 2016, and she plans to audition for a TV talent show as soon as she turns 15.

The Ocean Keys Community Showcase starts on March 1 in the food court and runs until May 31, with performances every Thursday night between 4.30pm and 7.30pm.

Isobel will perform under her stage name Izzi Green on March 15 and others interested in taking part can call 9407 2400 or emailing oceankeys.reception@ampcapital.com.

During performances there will be $10 meal deals from 15 retailers and a free games zone will run for children.
