Youth events on agenda

The Yanchep Two Rocks Community Association will hold a Vibe Night for local youngsters on June 13.

President Ron Arnold said the event was part of a youth activities program initiated by Virginia Dziegielewski after teenagers told her there was a lack of things to do for their age group.

"The association has made her our new community youth activities officer," he said.

"This is a role that she has embraced with open arms and is willing to go the extra mile to have social events for teenagers back on our agenda.

"There have been no social activities for teenagers up here since the blue light discos many, many years ago."

Mr Arnold said the youth activities program would include forming a student group representing high schools in Yanchep, Butler and Mindarie, which would contribute ideas for more events.

"All the events will be held specifically for youths and all shall be fundraisers for various ongoing programs such as children's cancer research," he said.

"This is a real chance for the youth of our communities to become involved with hands-on activities, ideas and planning of future fun events while working towards helping others in need.

"This youth activities program is long overdue and we would strongly urge all youths from the ages of 13 to 17 to become involved.

"We are looking for the youth of the local communities to now support us in our endeavor to make youth activities and social dances regular events."
