Barking dog has ruined our peace

SINCE 2013, our quiet retirement in a formerly peaceful area of Wanneroo has been ruined by barking.

From inviting the dog owners over for friendly drinks to writing endless letters and/or making endless phone calls to the owners, City of Wanneroo councillors, rangers and mayor, to completing seven-day and 14-day dog barking diaries for the City, we have tried everything in our power to put a stop to the barking and we have failed.

This weekend, July 2-3 the dog has barked for long periods, yet on July 4, a ranger phoned to inform us that “there is no nuisance barking”, that the “dog wears an anti-bark collar” and therefore no further action against the owners will be taken.

Yet the wretched creature is barking right now and has been most of the afternoon.

So, barking dogs and their careless owners can expect the support and protection from the City that is denied to decent, law-abiding citizens.

As the City of Wanneroo is clearly unable to take action, any helpful suggestions from your readers will be gratefully received.
