Minister’s response was ‘short-sighted’

THE response by Environment Minister Albert Jacob to a request by Butler MLA John Quigley requesting oval upgrades in Yanchep National Park on behalf of the Two Rocks Yanchep Residents Association, Yanchep ovals unsuitable for sports, Times, October 8, was short-sighted in the extreme.

In an age when obesity and child inactivity has reached plague proportions, one would have thought that government funds would be well spent on such a noble cause.

Perhaps the minister has no concept of playing in parks and ovals when he was young, because he spent his youth plotting a move into politics rather than participating in normal childhood activities.

Or maybe there were no suitable ovals to play on.
