More than results to car racing at Barbagallo

It’s not just about the results; it’s also about what goes on behind the scenes.

NOW that the Old Yanchep Road is being (sorry for the trees that had to be killed) widened, Barbagallo Raceway will be easily accessible.

There are plenty of races during the season starting with Formula Ford, where all who want to be F1 pilots one day race, then to Super V8s and so forth. Yet there is very little reporting except for the championship day.

Looking at how many mainly young men (but also women) work endless hours to get their cars ready and looking at how much technology and ingenuity is at work, that is not just a noisy place. That is where we see mechanics, engineers and IT specialists at work and exactly these people are part of our future technology.

ECU sponsors one driver. ECU has a race team and the students work on the race days. The uni understands that there is more to it.

It would be a good idea if the media would pay more attention to the races and report on each racing day and not just about the results but about the background of drivers, teams and the technology.
