It seems an ever-growing number of cyclists, joggers and pedestrians are trading their hi-vis clothing for a far more fashionable range of black/navy attire.

Even the high-powered lycra lads are getting in on the act.

Come on people: cycling on the roads and shared paths is hazard enough when wearing fluoro yellow, let alone black.

Therefore, in the interest of common sense and the safety of all users, can I suggest we reserve the black attire for nightclubs and funerals?

Winter with its darker days is almost upon us, and I feel that someone is going to be seriously hurt, if not killed.

I recently witnessed an early-morning collision between a cyclist and a pedestrian. Both parties were resplendent in black attire. Both said they didn’t see the other.

Funny that.
